Abstract:

Information system usage is a necessary condition for improving the business value of enterprise information system.Prior researches with regard to the relationship between system usage and individual performance have been inconsistent. Some researches conclude that system usage has a significant positive or negative effect on individual performance;other researches do not confirm the relationship. In order to confirm the relationship between system usage and individual performance,we conduct research models based on system usage and human dynamics theory. An empirical analysis is conducted by using the log data and performance evaluation data of 100 information system users and we hope to find the impact of system usage on job performance under different measurement models, different genders and work-ages.The results indicate that:(1) when using different definitions and measurement models of system usage, the relationship between system usage and individual performance shows the obvious diversity;(2) as more measurement angles are applied to system usage, the impact of frequency of system use on job performance starts to emerge;duration of system use always has a non-significant effect on job performance;system features use always has a significant positive effect on job performance;burstiness of system use always has a significant negative effect on job performance;(3) gender and work-age moderate the relationship between system usage and job performance.
