Abstract: Based on the conservation of resource theory, this study investigates the influence of team territorial behavior on team innovation efficiency. Especially, the mechanism (i.e., the mediating role of team knowledge hiding) and the boundary condition (i.e., the moderating role of ethical leadership) underlying the relationship are tested. With a two-wave survey, we collect 590 samples from 169 small IT enterprises. Empirical analysis is carried out by using statistical software such as DEAP and SPSS, the results show that: (1) team territorial behavior has a significant positive impact on team innovation efficiency; (2) team knowledge hiding plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between team territorial behavior and team innovation efficiency; (3) ethical leadership plays a moderating role in the relationship between team territorial behavior and team knowledge hiding. To be specific, the positive effect of team territorial behavior on team knowledge hiding is stronger when the level of ethical leadership is lower; (4) ethical leadership further moderates the indirect effect of team territorial behavior on team innovation efficiency via team knowledge hiding. To be specific, the positive effect of team territorial behavior on team innovation efficiency through team knowledge hiding is enhanced when the level of ethical leadership is lower.
