Abstract:

Panel threshold regression analysis is used to test the relationships between knowledge resource, R&D investment and cross-border innovation result. Based on an empirical analysis of the data on the transnational science and technology listed enterprises for cross-border innovation from 2003 to 2013, the study finds that the knowledge resource and R&D investment has a positive effect on the cross-border innovation result, but there is a threshold of knowledge resource. The institutional distance can cause the inhibition to the R&D investment's effect on the cross-border innovation result and improve the knowledge resource threshold of the cross-border innovation efficiency. The study also analyzes the mutual influencing among different innovation resource bases of transnational enterprises based on different conditions of institutional distance. Suggestions for improving transnational enterprises' innovation ability as well as the government management are proposed based on those conclusions.
