Abstract:

Based on existing research findings and present situation in the development process of regional construction industries in China, the authors combine Support Vector Machine model and the Principal Components model with Multi-Attribute Model with Time Series and conduct an empirical study on spatial differentiation in the dynamic evolution mechanism of forming Chinese construction industry competitiveness. Our research shows that the innovative ability, as a key factor of industry competitiveness in eastern region, contributes more strongly; status of industrial organization has a positive influence on the development of construction industry in central region gradually; the increasing input of production factors, a major factor for industry competitiveness, has promoted the whole construction industry competitiveness in western region. This research reveals the future development direction of construction industry in different regions of China, accomplishes theoretical and methodological innovations of industry competitiveness study in space and time, and establishes a study foundation for the research of industry regulation on the coordinated development of construction industry.
