Abstract: It is important to identify the key factors that influence university scholars’ academic entrepreneurship and the logical relationships among the factors. Firstly, this paper constructs a system of influencing factors from three levels: individual scholars, university organizations, and macro environment and policies. Secondly, the DEMATEL method is used to calculate the degree of influencing and being influenced, centrality and causality values of each influencing factor to reveal the importance of each influencing factor. Then a multi-level recursive logical structure model of the influencing factors is constructed with the help of the ISM model. Finally, the results of the DEMATEL+ISM analysis are combined to identify the key influencing factors. It is found that the factors that influence university scholars’ academic entrepreneurship can be divided into seven levels and there are a total of eleven key influencing factors, namely, academic level and achievement of scholars, academic influence, technical background, entrepreneurial experience, personnel advantage, industry-academia cooperative network, leadership behavior in the organization, organizational culture, social capital of the university, resource allocation support and industry situation. This study not only enriches the existing theoretical system related to academic entrepreneurship to a certain extent, but also provides a theoretical basis for university scholars to cultivate their own entrepreneurial qualities and abilities and also helps university organizations to design a scientific incentive system for scholar entrepreneurship.
