An Empirical Research on the Matching Relationships between Relationship Governance and Contractual Governance Orientation from the Viewpoint of Life Cycle——Taking PPP Projects as an Example

There are many researches on relationship governance (RG) and contractual governance orientation (CG), but few of them empirically look into the matching relationships between relationship governance and contractual governance orientation from the viewpoint of life cycle for PPP projects. Hence, using the stepwise regression analysis method, this paper makes an empirical analysis on the matching relationships between RG and CG from the viewpoint of PPP projects lifecycle. Our research shows that the matching relationships between RG and CG from the viewpoint of PPP project life cycle are different. The matching relationships between RG and CG in the early stage show a linear function relation, the matching relationships between RG and CG in the construction period show a concave function relation, and the matching relationships between RG and CG in the operation period show a convex function relation. The conclusions are helpful for understanding the matching mechanism between relational governance and contractual governance orientation, and are of great theoretical and practical implications for realizing the effective matching between them. The results provide a reference for both public and private sectors to effectively match RG and CG from the viewpoint of PPP project life cycle.
