Abstract:

Project buffer sizing is a key element of critical chain project management. This new method not only shortens the project duration, but also improves the on-time completion probability of the project. As a new project management technique, the buffer sizing issue has attracted many explorations and researches. However, the existing researches on buffer sizing methods are scant and not systematic. Through a comprehensive review of the literatures, we summarize the methods of buffer sizing, and classify it scientifically. By the investigation of the existing buffer sizing methods, this paper proposes a clear research context. Specifically, we propose the further research directions based on the present research situation and its insufficiency.
