Abstract: Based on the agency theory and resources basic view theory, this paper uses 78 Chinese commercial banks' financial statement data and ownership structure information to analyze the relationship between their introduction of foreign investment and their risk exposure. The results show that foreign investment is negatively related to non-performing loan ratio, positively related to the interbank asset size and negatively related to non-standard asset size. Also, foreign investment is negatively related to the banks' business risk, and to some extent could relieve the negative influence of non-performing loans.
