An Exploratory Study on Niche Construction Behaviors of Core Staff in Enterprises

Abstract: Based on literature review, this study analyzes the inherent shortage of current studies related to core staff and introduces the theory of niche construction into the issue for the first time. Applying critical incident method, exploratory analysis and confirmatory analysis, it develops a questionnaire measuring core staff's niche construction behaviors after an open and a close investigation. The destination behaviors are testified to have seven dimensions, including professional loyalty, self-development, innovation, admonition, coordination and communication, helping and organizational loyalty. A further study shows that the core staff's niche construction behaviors have different strength of positive correlation with both job performance and organizational commitment.
